Different surgical techniques of macular hole associated with retinal detachment

Posted By: Jaydeep Walinjkar on March 30, 2024
The techniques include vitrectomy with AMG implant, ILM peeling, and PFCL assisted inverted flap technique. RD secondary to macular hole is a relatively rare condition. The surgical approach is slightly different from and more challenging than surgery for a typical macular hole without concurrent retinal detachment. The primary challenge is peeling the ILM over the detached and mobile retina. Further, there is the additional potential risk of BBG dye gaining causing toxicity.
