Blurry vision after tattooing conjunctiva in the right eye

Posted By: Marcelo Carvalho Ventura Filho on April 17, 2025
This is the case of a 32-year-old male who sustained an inadvertent intraocular injection of green tattoo ink into his right eye. On presentation, his visual acuity was 20/60 with an intraocular pressure of 16 mmHg, and ink pigments were observed in both the anterior and posterior segments. He underwent pars plana vitrectomy with peripheral laser photocoagulation surrounding the retinal perforation area and gas tamponade. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, and the patient achieved full visual recovery with a final visual acuity of 20/15 and stable intraocular pressure.
